本書講述的是30年代上海的一個愛情鬼故事，沈君初深愛著自己的女友徐曼麗，但就在他買了戒指約曼麗見面的時候，曼麗被車撞死。從此他心中一直對曼麗念念不忘，還把曼麗所有的遺物搬回家中的閣樓。而後在不情願的情況下娶了一個名叫三三的女人為妻。就在三三苦於得不到沈君初的愛的時候，她遇到了曼麗的鬼魂，並且慢慢的被曼麗所控制。
